EO St. Louis was recently featured in MSN Money Money and the St. Louis Post-Dispatch.

For the first time, EO St. Louis polled its members and 46 member companies responded to its survey. The poll reveals that more than half of small business owners intend to add employees between now and March.

Also, 82 percent of respondents plan to bring hired or skilled workers on board and four percent want to hire administrative personnel.

More than 44 percent plan to post listings on online job boards and Web sites, 25 percent plan to find new hires through word of mouth, 11 percent are moving toward using a professional recruiter, and lastly, less than five percent are likely to place an ad in the newspaper.

"I think these poll numbers are a great sign of how local small businesses have persevered, even in tough economic times. Despite the recent downturn in the economy, it’s very encouraging to see how many local entrepreneurs are feeling optimistic enough about their businesses to hire new employees," says Dan Curran, communications chairman of EO St. Louis and president of NGAGE Digital.

Economists at both the national and local levels maintain that small business hiring is key to recovering the millions of lost jobs during the downturn.
