Governor Bobby Jindal Appoints Kevin Langley to the Board of Commerce and Industry


BATON ROUGE - Today, Governor Bobby Jindal announced a new appointment to the Board of Commerce and Industry.
 
The Board of Commerce and Industry serves to provide benefits and incentives to encourage businesses to locate or expand new or existing operations in Louisiana in accordance with Louisiana Vision 2020, which serves to communicate to the citizens of Louisiana a long-term strategic economic development plan to expand and diversify its economy.
 
According to statute, the board consists of twenty members, fifteen of whom are gubernatorial appointments representative of businesses across the state. The governor, the secretary of the Department of Economic Development, and the lieutenant governor or their designees will serve as ex-officio members on the board. In addition, the governor selects one elected municipal official from nominations submitted by the Louisiana Municipal Association and one member from the nominations submitted by the Police Jury Association.
 
Kevin Langley, of Baton Rouge, is the co-owner of Ellis Construction and is the former president of the New Orleans chapter of the Entrepreneurs Organization. Langley is also a member of the Business Advisory Council to Xavier University and will serve as a representative of Louisiana businesses, as required by statute.
